The Photonics Resarch Group is spread over two locations: Location 1 is at
Technicum in the center of Ghent, whereas location 2 (with the Clean
Room facilities) is at the Campus Zwijnaarde, just southwest of Ghent.

Photonics Research Group is situated in the Sint
Pietersnieuwstraat nr 41 in the city center of Ghent.
It can easily be reached by car or by public transport.
You can view the area map indicating the routes described below.
By car:
- If you travel by car (purple lines on the map): from the highway E17-E40 reaching
Ghent - follow "Alle Richtingen" (all directions) Coming off the highway, take
the left lane and turn left at the first traffic lights. Continue on the "ring"
of Ghent on the Sint Lievenslaan and the Citadellaan. Before the second traffic lights,
take the right lane and turn rigth at the traffic lights. After the
"Overpoortstraat" you can find a large square "Sint Pietersplein"
where you can park your car. Continue in the Sint Pietersnieuwstraat until you reach the
University building Technische Laboratoria.
Take the left entrance of the building and go to the first floor where you will find the
secretariat of the Department of Information Technology (INTEC).
By train:
- If you travel by train (orange and pink lines on the map): it's a 20 minutes walk from
the Station "Gent-Sint-Pieters) to INTEC. Tram 1, 10, 11 and 12 can take you from the
station to the Plateaustraat, stop "Verlorenkost" (orange line). At the other
end of the Plateaustraat, you are in front of the University building Technische Laboratoria. Take the left
entrance of the building and go to the first floor where you will find the secretariat of
the Department of Information Technology (INTEC). If you like to walk from the station to
INTEC, follow the tram until the traffic lights at the end of the Kortrijksesteenweg. Then
follow the way as shown by the pink lines on the map.
- Gent can be reached by train from the International Airport in Brussels. Some trains go
directly to Ghent (duration 1hour and 30 minutes), but you can also transfer to a faster
train in the central station of Brussels (duration 1 hour). You can consult the Belgian
Railway website www.b-rail.be for time tables.

By Train +
Bus
Take the train to Gent Sint-Pieters. At railway station, take the bus:
- 70, direction Zwijnaarde Vogelhoek
- 71, direction Nazareth Dorp
- 72, direction Merelbeke Molenhoek.
Normally, these buses start from platform 4 of the bus station in from of
the Gent Sint-Pieters railway station. There is one of these every 15
minutes (Be careful to take the bus in the right direction). Travel time is
about 12 minutes. Get off at stop Zwijnaarde Hutsepotstraat (the
first stop after the bus crosses a bridge over both the water and the
highway.)
The CAMPUS is on the other side of the street. You have to cross an
elongated rotunda. It is about 5-10 minutes walk.

By car or bike from Ghent
At the "Sterre" take the N60 (Oudenaardesesteenweg) towards Oudenaarde. You
stay on the N60 past the first traffic lights and over the bridge (crossing
the ring road R4). Stay on the N60 past the second set of lights and turn
left before the third lights (direction of Ghent), making a 180 degree turn.
The Technology Park is now situated on your right. You turn right into the
Technology Park and you will encounter another roundabout. Go left at this
roundabout and continue this road past building 914 and park your car
between building 914 and building 918. Our clean room (building 926) is
situated next to this building. However you need to enter building 914 and
go to the first floor where you will find the Photonics Research Group.
By car from Kortrijk (or Lille)
On highway E17 (Antwerpen/Kortrijk), take exit 8 "De Pinte/Zevergem" and turn
right in the direction of "Gent N60". Then follow directions below under the
heading "On the N60"
By car from Antwerp
On highway E17 (Antwerpen/Kortrijk), take exit 8 "De Pinte/Zevergem" and turn
left in the direction of "Gent N60". Then follow directions below under
the heading "On the N60"
By car from Brussels:
On highway E40 (Brussel/Oostende), when approaching Gent, there is a crossing between E17
and E40. Take the direction of E17 (Kortrijk). On highway E17 (Antwerpen/Kortrijk), take
exit 8 "De Pinte/Zevergem" and turn left in the direction of "Gent
N60". Then ollow directions below under the heading "On the N60"
By car from Brugge or Oostende:
On highway E40 (Brussel/Oostende), when approaching Gent, there is a crossing between E17
and E40. Take the direction of E17 (Kortrijk). On highway E17 (Antwerpen/Kortrijk), take
exit 8 "De Pinte/Zevergem" and turn left in the direction of "Gent
N60". Then follow directions below under the heading "On the N60"
On the N60:
Coming from the exit of the E17, after about 2 km in the direction of "Gent N60"
(just past the 4-th traffic lights, on a big roundabout with an oblong shape) take a right
turn onto the "Technologiepark". You are now on the campus.
On the campus,
You will encounter another roundabout. Go left at this roundabout and continue this road
past building 914 and park your car between building 914 and building 918. Our clean room
(building 926) is situated next to this building. However you need to enter building 914
and go to the first floor where you will find the Photonics Research Group.
