Dr. Attila Szep (Visiting Researcher)
This person worked in the group from 2013 till 2013.
Attila Szep received his undergraduate degree in digital circuits, his master’s degree in communications in EE and his Ph. D. in electro-physics under Dr. William Steier’s guidance at the University of Southern California. His graduate work involved working with highly nonlinear electro optic polymers for photonic applications. His thesis work theme was an integrated 2 bit true time delay for RF beam-forming, all integrated in EO polymers, utilizing balanced MZ high speed modulators with asymmetric waveguide crosses as switches. After graduation Dr. Szep joined a research laboratory where he continued his research in integrated photonics, mostly toward RF photonic applications. He was involved in designing, building and testing highly linear electro optic modulators for RF links, optical beam-forming circuits using integrated phase modulators and diffractive arrays, silicon photonic components and hybrid EO/silicon photonic modulators. In his current project Dr. Szep is working with quantum physicists to develop photonic integrated circuits for quantum information processing and quantum computing. Parallel to this project Dr. Szep continues his focus on integrated photonic technologies such as silicon photonics and heterogeneous integration of CMOS and photonic circuits for higher complexity and functionality. Dr. Szep visited the Photonics Research Group during the summer of 2013. Back to list
