Karel Dumon received his Msc degree in Engineering Physics from Ghent University in 2015 and has several years of experience in developing and deploying novel technologies (such as quantum hardware/software, and AI/cloud systems) in close collaboration with industrial clients. He is also a co-founder of Miraex, a startup based at EPFL which develops photonic sensors and quantum transducers. He starting working for IMEC and Ghent University in 2023 to lead the BeQCI project, which has to goal to build the first quantum communication infrastructure testbed in Belgium as part of the EuroQCI initiative.
