 
Integrated nonlinear optics In this research area we study the realization of nonlinear optical functionalities on a siliconbased waveguide circuit. Several applications and associated wavelength ranges are considered, ranging from the visible/nearinfrared (e.g. for CARS spectroscopy) over telecommunication wavelengths (e.g. for wavelength conversion) to the midinfrared (e.g. for the generation of midinfrared radiation). Both third order and second order nonlinear effects are considered. The integration of highly nonlinear materials on siliconbased waveguide circuits is explored.
