Meep is a broadly used and acknowledged open-source package for FDTDelectromagnetic simulations. We describe how Python bindings for Meep leverage the tool. We outline new perspectives for integration of Meep with other libraries in the Python ecosystem. We show that Python bindings allow using Meep more effectively in a large scale parallel computing architecture. We describe the technical implementation of Python-Meep with SWIG and describe different architectures for interfacing data with the Meep core engine. Some applications of Python-Meep in our photonics and plasmonics research are briefly touched. We illustrate generic benefits to the wider research and open-source community.
