Photonic integrated circuits for the visible/near IR In this research area we study the integration of photonic functions in the visible and near IR spectral band (typically between 500 and 1000 nm). This wavelength range is of particular interest for sensing of biological media and can take advantage of the relatively mature light source and detector technologies. Most of the developments focus on a siliconnitride photonic integration platform. The activities encompass passive devices, light source integration, nonlinear optical devices and applications in spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy in particular (see related research area).
