Xiaoning Jia was born in Shijiazhuang, China, in 1990. He received his Bachelor degree in Integrated circuit design and integrated system in 2013 from Dalian University of Technology, China, after which he studied Photonics Engineering at Ghent University and received a Master degree. Since September 2016 he joined the Photonics Research Group at INTEC, starting his work on Mid-IR gas sensing using SOI platform in collaboration with Melexis.
