Abstract
Abstract: Ultra-thin narrow stripes of epitaxially grown InP bonded on top of Silicon on Insulator (SOI) circuits have been shown to operate as saturable absorbers at very low optical power levels. In this talk we will highlight how such low power saturable absorbers can be used to make on chip signal regenerators as well as play a role in future access networks where current passive optical splitters need to be replaced to support future flexible access networks.
