Dr. Dongbo Wang received his Ph.D. in Material Physics and Chemistry from the Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2019, focusing on short-wave infrared (SWIR) semiconductor lasers and quantum cascade lasers (QCLs). His research covered epitaxial growth, waveguide design, and laser characterization, providing a strong foundation in laser physics and semiconductor engineering.
In 2020, he joined the Photonics Research Group at Ghent University, where he began working on the heterogeneous integration of III-V materials onto silicon, germanium and silicon nitride circuits to develop high-performance on-chip photonic systems. His current research interests include mid-infrared lasers, telecom/datacom tunable lasers, and mode-locked frequency comb lasers for applications in optical communication, spectroscopy, atomic optical clocks, and sensing.Specific Research Topics
